kelby final effort images
For My final effort, I had a few ideas of what I wanted my work to look like. Having barriers and plans of how to make images limited my creativity in the first few weeks. I wanted to photograph cars in motion with a literal sense. Through the weeks of critiques, I decided to let go of the idea of having plans for photographs. After taking photographs at night, my work became less literal. Around week 3 I started ton understand that this project was about the motion and art, rather than the subject matter itself. The body of work moved closer to becoming abstract art which is more powerful in the sense of displaying motion in a static subject such as passing cars. I pushed my previous boundaries and made images that were as far from what a car is at first thought. The images that I made in the conclusion of this project resemble the intermittent snapshot of a passing car at night. That slight glance you just catch as you try to conceive what you are seeing. The capture this moment exactly and freeze it in time to further discover. At the beginning of this project I would have never guessed my final set would have looked like this. After coming to terms with letting go of predetermined ideas, I believe my work took on a completely different take and I am taken back with the results and the evolution of me as a photographer through the process.
